People wondered what put Gu Yeze in a bad mood after several days’ cheerfulness.
A few assistants were comforting a tearful girl who had just been told off by Gu Yeze, “Don’t cry. President might have had a row with his wife.”
“I guess not. He can’t take a fancy to that woman.”
“You said it! There’s nothing special about Bai Weijin.”
The girl was racked by sobs, and her colleges kept rattling on when Gu Yeze walked out.
Their voices died away.
“You who don’t want to work under me can resign now. Idlers aren’t welcomed at Gu’s Group.” Gu Yeze cast them a cold glance.
If he had heard what they just now talked, they were likely to get fired now.
As to Yan family, they were like cats on hot bricks.
Yan Liwei sat in the President’s Office. The very thought of Yan’s Group on which he had spent a lot of time and effort about to collapse made him go grey at the temples within a week.
These days they received much fewer orders than ever, and many banks were inclined to suspend cooperation with Yan’s Group.
He got a big problem with the funds, and a large number of employees planned to send in their resignation. Yan Liwei was at a total loss.
Someone pushed the door open.
It was Yan Sheng. Yan Liwei had not the slightest hope in him, to find that a tall man followed him in.
At the sight of the man’s heavily tattooed arms, Yan Liwei thought his son mixed with a gang member and was thus filled with anger.
“At this critical juncture, how can you still…” Yan Liwei felt a tightness in the chest before he finished.
Yan Sheng hurriedly ran to him, “Dad!”
The man who remained silent finally opened his mouth, “I can help you get rid of this trouble.”
Yan Sheng whispered a word in Yan Liwei’s ear. His eyes grew wide in surprise, “You are Mo Kaige?”
Mo Kaige gave a little chuckle as a response to Yan Liwei’s failure to recognize him.
Mo Kaige, H City’s gangland boss, had very mysterious whereabouts. Yan Liwei didn’t expect he should have a chance to see Mo Kaige with his own eyes.
But… Yan Liwei frowned. Mo Kaige was indeed good at dealing with the gangs, which, though, was totally unrelated to his crisis. However superhuman he might be, he could be of no assistance.
Mo Kaige seemed to fully grasp what he was thinking about, saying, “To associate with the underworld also requires abundant financial resources. Moreover, if we help you kill Gu Yeze…”
Yan Liwei could barely keep cool.
With financial support, Yan’s Group would be able to weather the storm. Given that Gu Yeze was…
Then all the difficulties would be easily solved, and all the disagreement be settled.
Yan Liwei was half tempted to agree with him.
“What do you want?” Yan Liwei asked wearily.
“30% of Yan’s Group’s shares.” Mo Kaige answered, without turning a hair.
Yan Liwei went weak at the knees. Giving Mo Kaige 30% of shares was tantamount to letting him take over Yan’s Group.
Seeing his father dither over the deal, Yan Sheng added, “Dad, you may rest assured that they want dividends only and won’t snatch the company from us.”
Mo Kaige didn’t deny it.
Yan Sheng was driven by a yearning to win and to wipe out all the disgrace by defeating Gu Yeze.
“Dad, only in this way can we compete with Gu Yeze. You don’t want Yan’s Group to go bankrupt, do you?”
Yan Liwei closed his eyes.
He didn’t feel like giving away Yan’s Group’s stocks to someone unfamiliar, so he was hesitant, “Wait a moment. I have to consider your offer carefully.”
“Dad…” Yan Sheng wouldn’t give up.
“Go out!” Yan Liwei roared, and Yan Sheng backed out reluctantly.
On the way out, Yan Sheng promised Mo Kaige to give him a satisfactory reply while bowing and scraping, completely without the elegant and smart deportment.
Bai Weijin remained intransigent, driving Yan’s Group into an impasse little by little.
Bai Weijin took the elevator to the 23rd floor.
“Where’s Gu Yeze?” She asked the assistants.
Yet they had no idea of the whereabouts of Gu Yeze. Seeing Bai Weijin came in, Luo Nan let out a sigh of relief and was overwhelmed with gratitude—she really saved their life.
“President has gone out.” The assistant was extremely deferential towards her.
Some other women, however, couldn’t bite their tongue.
“President was in low spirits all day long. I guess, well, someone unpleasant must have annoyed him. Since he got married, he has been in a bad mood.”
“Indeed… It seems that his unhappiness has lasted for more than one month.”
As Gu Yeze’s personal assistant, Luo Nan was aware that Bai Weijin had an important place in Gu Yeze’s heart. He was ready to scold them when Bai Weijin opened her mouth.
“Haven’t you heard how I handled those gossipy employees the first day I worked at Gu’s Group?”
Her words scared those women out of their wits.
One of them was emboldened to speak, “We’ve talked about nothing but President’s emotional state. You cannot expel us due to this.”
“If I remember rightly, it’s not your place to care about President’s emotional state, is it? Or you would like to wait on him hand and foot?”
The girl who cried her eyes out immediately said, “They don’t mean it…”
Then she was told off by Bai Weijin, “I see what they mean, but what if I stick it to them? I don’t want to see them at Gu’s Group in future—what do you say?”
Luo Nan finally found out why Bai Weijin had a special place in Gu Yeze’s heart. They were alike in many ways, especially when they got angry…
Bai Weijin consulted her watch and found it was time to call it a day, while Gu Yeze seemed not to come back. She stepped outwards when something flashed through her mind.
“President’s Office’s businesses are beyond my scope of powers, but I might as well egg my husband on to get you fired.”
As soon as she left, the bold girl sank into a chair. Thinking about how Yan Sheng was fixed, she didn’t quite dare to imagine what it was like when Gu Yeze sorted her out.
Luo Nan shook his head in sympathy for his colleagues and went out.
He was loyal enough to report to Gu Yeze on what had happened in the office.
“Fire that woman, transfer the rest to other divisions and move a few male staffers to my office. I don’t need women working on the 23rd floor.”
Gu Yeze was finally pleased by Bai Weijin’s angrily rebuking those women and gave clear instructions.
“Ok,” nodded Luo Nan.
