Jiang Sisi sat there applying nail polish. Soon the sun glinted on her dazzling fingernails.
Bai Weijin let out a sneer, coming up to throw the folder at her hands. Jiang Sisi’s carefully applied nail polish was spoiled. Flustered and exasperated, she looked up and saw Bai Weijin.
The reason why Jiang Sisi could hold the position of Director in Gu’s Group with a wealth of talents lay in not only her strength and backgrounds but her tactful ways of dealing with people. She immediately changed her countenance, “Director Bai, what honorable business brings you here?”
Bai Weijin didn’t bother to beat about the bush, replying coldly, “Give me those materials.”
“What materials?” Jiang Sisi feigned ignorance.
Zhang Lanxin angrily chipped in, “The materials I asked you for just now. You lose your memory?”
Jiang Sisi pretended that she had really forgotten it.
“I’m sorry, but there’s something wrong with the document, and even I don’t have the complete copy. Please come over some other day.”
Bai Weijin made no response but looked into her eyes until Jiang Sisi got scared, “Why are you staring at me? I have a lot of work to do recently and don’t have the time to deal with it.”
Of course she lied.
On recalling that President Gu left her alone mercilessly that day and refused to meet her since then, Jiang Sisi hated Bai Weijin’s guts.
She was only too anxious to see Bai Weijin make a mistake. How could she cooperate with Bai Weijin?
Bai Weijin stared at her for a moment and pulled Zhang Lanxin away.
Jiang Sisi was totally muddled. ‘Is Bai Weijin so easy to deal with?’
“I don’t want it, and I’ll quit the program. Director Jiang, tell me when you complete your work, and I’ll start to prepare for the program then.”
Bai Weijin’s voice came as she walked away. A panic stirred inside Jiang Sisi.
It was the first time that she confronted one who acted so shamelessly.
She had wished that Bai Weijin would bow to her pressure in order to get the materials, while Bai’s reaction was beyond her expectation.
‘How can she wash her hands of the program? I’ll be doomed if President knows it.’
“Wait,” said Jiang Sisi hurriedly.
“What else can I do for you, Director Jiang?” Bai Weijin asked in a careless way.
“It occurs to me that I’ve got the document and handed it to my assistant. You can ask her for it.” Jiang Sisi gnashed her teeth in hatred.
Bai Weijin’s reply was beyond expectation, “I think not. Since you are so busy, I can do you the honor of advising President to put off the program.”
When she referred to Gu Yeze, Bai Weijin’s heart ached.
But she didn’t show her emotions before Jiang Sisi. She was always good at hiding her real feelings.
Jiang Sisi growled, “How dare you!”
Zhang Lanxin answered her back, “How dare Y-O-U!”
Jiang Sisi was shaking with anger as Zhang Lanxin who ran off crying just now directed criticism at her with the backing of Bai Weijin.
“Xiaolei,” Jiang Sisi called her assistant.
Her assistant was a gorgeously decked-out girl, exactly the same type as Jiang Sisi.
“Sort the document through and give it to Director Bai, in case her work would be held up.” Jiang Sisi said through gritted teeth.
Bai Weijin was satisfied with the result and gave a smile.
“By the way, I heard that your assistant was very unkind to Lanxin?”
Her words scared the girl to death who turned to Jiang Sisi for help immediately.
Flustered, Jiang Sisi had no idea how to respond. Bai Weijin turned to look at Xiaolei, “You must have heard I once punished some gossipy staffers, haven’t you?”
The two girls who gossiped about Bai Weijin behind her back had been kicked out by her, and she was said to care for her people very much… On thinking that she had bullied Zhang Lanxin, Xiaolei was on the verge of tears, staring at Jiang Sisi who was her only hope.
Bai Weijin left with Zhang Lanxin immediately after saying that.
She didn’t care about at all how the two people would react.
At least, Jiang Sisi would lose the esteem of her assistant forever as she chose to look on in silence.
Bai Weijin was good at manipulating people.
The matter somehow reached Gu Yeze’s ears.
Jiang Sisi was demoted and punished with a salary cut. Bai Weijin heard of the news in the afternoon when Zhang Lanxin bounced into her office.
The girl praised Gu Yeze to the skies and was kicked out by Bai Weijin.
Bai Weijin had mixed feelings about that. ‘Is Gu Yeze begging my forgiveness?’
Out of respect for his wife, he gave his lover a light punishment. Gu Yeze truly deserved to be regarded as the big shot of H City.
Bai Weijin rubbed her forehead and kept reminding herself.
‘You cannot be moved by what he’s done, Bai Weijin! Don’t you remember how your mom was taken in by Bai Hongbo and ended up with death?”
Bai Wei tried to calm herself down and buried herself in the work.
The door of her office was pushed open.
“Stop messing around, Zhang Lanxin. Get out…” Bai Weijin felt the girl was given such a free rein recently that she wouldn’t do as she was told.
Yet she paused before finishing speaking.
It was Gu Yeze.
Bai Weijin had no intention of talking to him, bowing over the documents, though her eyes were fixed on the same page all the while.
“I’ve punished Jiang Sisi so that she won’t trouble you in the future.” Gu Yeze lamely explained.
It was the first time in his life that he explained himself before someone.
Bai Weijin merely groaned in response.
A feeling of powerlessness came over Gu Yeze. He asked, “What do you want?”
Bai Weijin almost burst into laughter, “Nothing. You don’t have to waster your energy to prove a point. If you have nothing to do, please go back to your own office.”
“To prove a point? What do you think I need to prove?”
His life went without a hitch, while Bai Weijin left him a sense of frustration he had never encountered before.
He had never interfered in conflicts among his staffers, while he openly punished Jiang Sisi today after she deliberately made things difficult for Bai Weijin.
He wished Bai Weijin could realize he had no affair with Jiang Sisi.
Yet the woman didn’t appreciate the gesture.
Bai Weijin stared at the paper in her hand without even lifting her head, “You seem to overestimate our relationship. Actually, you don’t need to prove anything to me.”
“Well, that’s good.” Gu Yeze said with a sneer.
Bai Weijin’s fingers started to tremble. The look on Gu Yeze’s face hurt her a lot.
Yet she chose to listen to reason.
Bai Weijin felt it necessary to get rid of Gu Yeze, and the sooner the better, for a romantic relationship was a big gamble she shouldn’t have taken.
