Gu Yeze waited for a moment but received no apology from Bai Weijin. He opened his mouth, “Do you really think you are my only choice?”
“Of course not, President. After all, there are plenty of pretty women around you.”
Gu Yeze was completely annoyed by her indifferent attitude.
“I shouldn’t have come to see you. How stupid I am!” Gu Yeze felt his pride hurt.
He added, “Draw up a divorce agreement for me to run through.”
After saying that, he turned away resolutely.
Strong-willed as she was, Bai Weijin gasped for breath, his chest rising and falling.
‘It’s nothing but a termination of a partnership. Bai Weijin, you are not the kind to shillyshally. An acute pain is much better than a prolonged one. You might as well cast aside your affection, or you’ll get hurt later.’
‘But why I feel so sad now?’
…
All eyes were on Gu Yeze as he walked out of the office.
Those women looked at him with either admiration or respect but with no coldness as Bai Weijin had.
What did she want after he gave her a grand wedding and wreaked vengeance on those who had badly treated her?
How could she forget all of these because of mere misunderstanding?
Gu Yeze couldn’t help giving a mocking smile.
A woman in a red suit came from a distance. Gu Yeze looked up and saw Jiang Sisi.
Jiang Sisi was also stupefied at the sight of him.
She looked at him with mixed emotions of both admiration and fear.
After an order from Gu Yeze, she was demoted to deputy director of the division with a large part of her power devolved.
A salary cut meant nothing to her, while the downgrading was a total humiliation.
Jiang Sisi imputed all this to Bai Weijin.
But for Bai Weijin’s complaining to Gu Yeze in private, he couldn’t have given her a good punishment. The very thought greatly deepened Jiang Sisi’s hatred for Bai Weijin.
But she couldn’t show her anger before Gu Yeze.
She quietly walked past the man while throwing plaintive glances at him, in the hope that Gu Yeze could realize she had been wronged.
Yet Gu Yeze had received plenty of such glances, and he didn’t bother to pay attention.
While Jiang Sisi brushed past Gu Yeze, her eyes were full of hate for Bai Weijin.
‘I won’t let off the woman who has screwed me up.”
…
The project run by Bai Weijin went smoothly.
After several talks, she could tell that the other party was quite gratified by her plan. Bai Weijin’s heart swelled with pride.
It was about to call for bids.
It didn’t surprise Bai Weijin when she saw Gu Yeze sit there. It had been weeks since she met him.
The two resumed sleeping separately days ago. The moment she came from work, Bai Weijin walked into her own room, and it was not until late at night that she heard the gate open.
A few minutes later, Gu Yeze gently closed the door.
Long time no see. Gu Yeze was as proud as usual.
Yet there were signs of weariness in his eyes, which, though, Bai Weijin didn’t notice.
Bai Weijin told Zhang Lanxin to hand out the documents one by one.
She cleared her throat before delivering an excellent speech, “Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I’m glad to be here, on behalf of Gu’s Group, to introduce our program…”
Earnest men were charming, so were dedicated women.
Bai Weijin made a well-organized slide presentation.
At some point, Gu Yeze suddenly looked strange, and Bai Weijin spoke more and more slowly.
The audience had no idea what happened.
The truth dawned on Bai Weijin. She calmed herself down and shot a glance at the crowd.
They were still puzzled.
Bai Weijin thought for a moment before she ended the slide show.
“I’m sorry, there’s some problem with my computer. Please wait a minute.” Bai Weijin bowed calmly and was then taken aback.
Gu Yeze stepped onto the platform.
He walked up and continued from where she left off.
Having never browsed through her plan, Gu Yeze actually guessed rightly how she would go on after ten minutes’ listening. He even gave an accurate account of all the data.
Her mind in a whirl, Bai Weijin went off the platform.
Zhang Lanxin hurried into her office.
Bai Weijin nodded, gesturing for the girl to shut up, for she had already known that.
Someone had changed the data inside.
Zhang Lanxin and she drafted the plan together, and all the data were crystal clear to her.
For such a big program, a small alteration in a single number could cause immeasurable loss.
He who changed the data certainly would like to take advantage of that.
Gu Yeze’s presentation was perfectly satisfactory.
Ignoring the angry look of Zhang Lanxin, Bai Weijin fixed her eyes on the man who looked charming in every detail.
Was he doing that for her good?
In fact, she had already prepared a spare copy of the data. If there occurred anything wrong with the original one, she would pretend to repair the computer and change it to the backup data before the audience found it out.
She had planned to deal with the situation in this way when Gu Yeze appeared from behind and solved the problem.
Bai Weijin once prepared to submit her resignation when the project was done and get a divorce.
“Zhang Lanxin.”
Bai Weijin suddenly opened her mouth.
Zhang Lanxin was speculating about who had altered the data when Bai Weijin seriously called her name.
“If someone treats you so well, but you don’t dare to fall in love with him, what would you do then?”
Zhang Lanxin was at a loss. She reached out to touch Bai Weijin’s head to see if she was delirious from fever, yet Bai Weijin pulled her hand away.
“Sister Bai, what are you saying? Are you talking about President?”
“No, nothing.” Bai Weijin gave a smile. How come she asked the little fool who didn’t understand love?
Once again, Gu Yeze lent her a hand when she was in trouble. He was a prop for her which made her not feel lonely.
But she was worried that she would lose the prop someday, and she had to rely on herself by the time.
‘Gu Yeze, what should I do with you?’
