Bai Weijin spent the whole afternoon in her office, doing nothing.

When she was about to knock off, Bai Weijin received a phone call from Grandma Gu who seldom gave her a ring within working hours. What was more, the grandmother was clear how busy they had recently been.

Bai Weijin answered the phone, “Hello, this is Bai Weijin speaking.”

Grandma Gu grinned from ear to ear, “Weijin, I just called Yeze but he didn’t answer it. He must be busy with work. Why don’t you come and have dinner with us?”

“Grandma, I…”

Bai Weijin was inclined to refuse. She didn’t feel like going there together with Gu Yeze for fear that she would probably lose her nerve to divorce by then.

Grandma Gu cut her short, “Put your work off and come here. Yeyu returned home today, and we’ll have a family reunion.”

Gu Yeyu? It was not until now that Bai Weijin recalled the sister-in-law.

Her curiosity was aroused by Grandma Gu’s doting on this granddaughter.

At the old woman’s kind invitation, she finally agreed to have dinner with them.

Gu Yeze didn’t come to collect her, so Bai Weijin took a taxi to Gu’s house.

Maid Wu was waiting at the gate. At the sight of Bai Weijin, she asked in surprise, “Weijin, why doesn’t Yeze come with you?”

Bai Weijin forced a smile, “He had some work to do and let me come first.”

However, no sooner had she finished talking than Gu Yeze’s car drove into the yard. He slammed on the brakes and parked the car.

Gu Yeze got out of the car and nodded a polite greeting to Maid Wu.

Maid Wu sized them up and soon drew a conclusion that the two people were still at odds.

She didn’t ask much and showed Bai Weijin in.

A girl in a red skirt dashed over, giving Gu Yeze a big hug, “Brother!”

Her voice sounded sweet and clear. A broad smile was shown on Gu Yeze’s face after days of depression, “Take your arms away.”

Yet his movement was as gentle as possible.

Gu Yeyu let go of her brother, turned away and curiously looked Bai Weijin up and down.

Instead of dodging aside, Bai Weijin met her eyes in a natural way. Grandma Gu teased Gu Yeyu, “Where are your manners, my girl? Why do you keep staring at your sister-in-law?”

Gu Yeyu curled her lips, made a face at Bai Weijin and then ran to her grandmother with a sweet smile.

Grandma Gu had been waiting for them at the table. There were also Gu Yelin and Shi Qian.

The two had been keeping a low profile since the failed acquisition.

Shi Qian wore an old necklace today. It seemed that they were too hard up recently to afford luxuries.

Bai Weijin seated herself beside Gu Yeyu at her repeated request.

The cute girl reminded her of Zhang Lanxin. She couldn’t help being keen on her.

“Sit down. Let’s have dinner.” Grandma Gu said.

“How long are you gonna stay?” Gu Yeze asked.

Gu Yeyu crammed down a mouthful of meat and answered while chewing it, “I am tired of living abroad, so I’m not going back. Mom and dad are too busy to take care of me there.”

Gu Yeze shrugged his shoulders.

Shi Qian hurriedly ingratiated herself, “You can stay anywhere as you like. We’ve missed you so much and hoped that you can live with us for a long time.”

They didn’t get along very well in the past, so Gu Yeyu just felt disgusted with what Shi Qian said.

She poked the rice with her chopsticks, turned her head and whispered in Bai Weijin’s ear, “How can you bear seeing her often without having a fight with her?”

Bai Weijin was amused by her question.

She answered in a whisper, “I did have a fight with her and gave her a good thrashing.”

A trace of a smile played across Gu Yeze’s lips.

Gu Yeyu also heard about what the couple had done before she returned home.

She didn’t like Gu Yelin, who was, in her eyes, a vicious and treacherous man. Worse still, he married an even more annoying woman.

By contrast, she believed that Gu Yeze must have married a nice woman. It came as a surprise to her that Bai Weijin was frank and impressive.

The two hit it off immediately.

Gu Yeyu had been murmuring to Bai Weijin during supper, and Grandma Gu was happy about them getting on well with each other.

Innocent as she was, Gu Yeyu had an intuitive sense of what a person was like. Thus, she disliked Shi Qian in the very beginning.

“Have some more, Yeyu.” Shi Qian put some food into Gu Yeyu’s bowl. She was quite jealous of their taking to each other at the first meeting.

‘Why can Bai Weijin win her over so quickly?’ In order to establish a foothold in Gu family, Shi Qian went to great lengths to pander to the much-loved sister-in-law.

Yet Gu Yeyu scarcely gave her a glance.

Just like now, the girl picked the food from her bowl, “I can do it myself.”

Bai Weijin raised her eyebrows.

Gu Yeyu and her brother were like two peas in a pod in terms of disposition, never hiding their dislike for anyone they loathed.

Shi Qian withdrew her hand, looking embarrassed, “Then help yourself.”

Gu Yelin shot her a withering glare, as if she had disgraced him.

Shi Qian also felt remorse for calling the little devil’s attention.

Gu Yeze and his grandmother pretended not to see it, burying themselves in their food.

“Brother, why didn’t you inform me of your wedding so that I can come back to attend it?” Gu Yeyu grumbled suddenly.

Bai Weijin paused to consider her answer.

Gu Yeze answered calmly, “We’re too pressed for time to tell you.”

“Humph, a wedding without me isn’t a good one,” muttered Gu Yeyu.

Suddenly, she looked at them in anticipation. Intuition told Bai Weijin she would say something earth-shattering.

As expected, she blurted stunning words out, “What if you get married once more?”
