Gu Yeze knocked her on the forehead, “Nonsense! Is marriage a game to you?”

“Ouch! That hurts!” Gu Yeyu rubbed her forehead while stealing a glance at her brother.

Seeing her words incurred Gu Yeze’s displeasure, Gu Yeyu stuck out her tongue and muttered under her breath, “If marriage isn’t a game, why did you get married so hurriedly?”

Grandma Gu also gave her a smack on the forehead, “What are you talking about?”

Gu Yeyu looked glum and turned to Bai Weijin for help.

Yet she received no answer.

‘Is our marriage a game?’

Bai Weijin was lost in thought. She and Gu Yeze hastily entered a nominal marriage, and now both of them achieved their ends—Grandma Gu was happy with her grandson’s wife, and Bai Yinya got what she deserved.

However, there was something wrong with their married life.

Grandma Gu and Maid Wu exchanged glances. The latter shook her head, and Grandma Gu soon got the picture.

Gu Yeyu also noticed the intense atmosphere between Bai Weijin and Gu Yeze. She kept looking at the two.

“Have your meal! No speaking while dining!” Grandma Gu warned her granddaughter in feigned anger.

Her words finally silenced Gu Yeyu. She started to focus her attention on the meal for fear of provoking her brother.

It was late at night when they walked out of Gu’s house.

Gu Yelin and Shi Qian left early on some pretext. Gu Yeyu got excited immediately after seeing the two wretches off.

She claimed that she could tell people’s fortunes and that Bai Weijin and Gu Yeze were a heaven-made match.

Gu Yeyu didn’t let Bai Weijin go home until the latter promised her to go shopping another day. Bai Weijin finally found Zhang Lanxin much more sensible.

Yet she regretted having sent Gu Yeyu away very soon—it was too late now, and she could find no taxi.

The Gu’s residence was so big that it took hours to walk from the doorway to the road.

Gu Yeze’s car was still parked there. After some hesitation, Bai Weijin, in a pair of stilettos, gritted her teeth and headed for the gate.

Her feet hurt, while there was still a good distance to the road.

Gu Yeze’s car sped over and screeched to a halt before it hit Bai Weijin.

Bai Weijin was startled out of her wits. “You bloody fool, Gu Yeze!” she growled.

Perhaps her exasperated look pleased Gu Yeze. He rolled down the car window, saying, “Get in.”

Bai Weijin was furious with him for scaring her to death, though she was aware that Gu Yeze couldn’t hit her.

She walked ahead without a glance at him.

The car drove slowly behind her, and Gu Yeze tooted his horn all the while.

In case that the sound woke Grandma Gu, Bai Weijin got into the car in a fury.

Gu Yeze raised his eyebrows, stepped on the accelerator and drove home.

“Don’t you have any word with me?” Gu Yeze felt his depression these days all gone when seeing Bai Weijin’s black face.

The calm atmosphere again gave way to a stifling one.

Bai Weijin remained silent. Gu Yeze braked sharply, unfastened the seat belt and pinned his arms to her sides.

Held closely, Bai Weijin felt her heart beating fast, “Let go! Just take it easy so that we can have a talk.” She didn’t want to make an emotional response under the influence of Gu Yeze.

“I’ve given you a chance to talk.”

Gu Yeze planted a kiss on her lips.

The kiss was long and passionate.

“Bai Weijin, I miss you very much. How about you?” Gu Yeze asked in a soft voice. He didn’t let go of Bai Weijin until she was out of breath.

Bai Weijin’s heart leapt. She found herself unable to speak.

She kept telling herself it was necessary to keep Gu Yeze at a distance, while Gu Yeze’s words soon weakened her resolve.

Bai Weijin wondered when she became such a wavering person.

“I miss you, too.”

She frankly admitted that and chose to seize the day. At least for now she didn’t feel like losing the man.

Gu Yeze intently gazed at her.

He seated himself and started the engine.

Gu Yeze got her into bed, and they had rumpy-bumpy over and over again this night.

…

Everyone at Gu’s Group heaved a sigh of relief when they appeared together.

The cloud of gloom finally cleared up.

Bai Weijin went straight to watch on the screen what had happened that day before she got back to her office.

Though she and Gu Yeze had made it up now, Bai Weijin had no intention of letting off the villain who had tampered with her slide.

Bai Weijin found nothing at all on the screen. She tended to take her laptop with her during lunch except that day.

They did act with surprising agility.

Bai Weijin rubbed her chin thoughtfully.

She seemed to walk down a blind alley, for it was quite difficult to prove Jiang Sisi’s guilt with no evidence against her.

Gu Yeze would like to help solve this problem by dismissing Jiang Sisi.

Yet Bai Weijin turned him down.

The best way to warn such staffers who used dirty tricks on their colleagues was to deter them rather than to expel them from Gu’s.

Despite her detailed explanation for the refusal, Gu Yeze was in low spirits last night.

She found herself overly self-confident. Without evidence, how would she testify against Jiang Sisi?

Bai Weijin couldn’t come up with a solution. She chose to waste no time on the screen but came back to her office.

Zhang Lanxin arrived early, pacing up and down in agitation. She ran to Bai Weijin at the very sight of her, “Sister Bai, you finally come!”

By contrast to Gu Yeyu, Bai Weijin now considered Zhang Lanxin lovely and made no fuss about her behavior, “What’s the matter?”

Zhang Lanxin stamped her foot in anger, “It pissed me off! I ran across Jiang Sisi just now. She asked me how our investigation went on and said she’d sue us for slander.”

Bai Weijin disdained to argue with Jiang Sisi. She comforted Zhang Lanxin a little while making a plan.
