Only a few saw Jiang Sisi off when she was given the sack. Bai Weijin and Gu Yeyu were now sitting at Gu Yeze’s office.
Gu Yeyu entertained her brother by filling him in on the excitement the news had aroused, while Bai Weijin listened to her colleagues talk about how Jiang Sisi was in a fix.
Actually, Gu Yeze was well aware of what had happened outside.
However, the sight of Gu Yeyu bubbling over with excitement and Bai Weijin smiling stopped him from interrupting.
“I didn’t expect Xiaowei would change sides so soon and was still thinking about how to collect evidence against Jiang Sisi this morning,” said Bai Weijin.
Gu Yeyu simply showed no concern.
As for Xiaowei, she handed in her resignation after Jiang Sisi relinquished office.
Even though no one knew who had reported Jiang Sisi’s wrongdoing, and Bai Weijin wasn’t even gonna punish her, Xiaowei still chose to leave the company.
A girl who had just started work, she was not necessarily calculating, and there was probably a more promising future awaiting her.
Gu Yeyu suddenly went quiet while they were talking.
Bai Weijin felt it quite strange that a normally talkative person fell into a silence now.
“Where has Chu Jiran got to?” Gu Yeyu asked after some hesitation.
It occurred to Bai Weijin that it was a long time since she saw Chu Jiran.
“He’s on a business trip and doesn’t know you’ve already been back.”
Gu Yeyu pursed her mouth in displeasure, “Why don’t you tell him that? I thought he’s shunning me.”
Gu Yeze gave a barbed reply, “It’s normal for him to shun a pest.”
Gu Yeyu shut up in a rage.
Beside herself with anger, she turned to Bai Weijin for help in a while, “Weijin, you’ve got to punish my brother after he treated me so badly!”
Bai Weijin gave her a thump on the forehead, “You’re actually a pest.”
It made Gu Yeyu even angrier. She claimed she had no relation to them from now on.
Gu Yeze tapped at the table while chiding Gu Yeyu, “You’ve disturbed us for long. Go home to look after Grandma.”
Gu Yeyu was reluctant to leave when the shredded paper sprang to mind.
She observed that Gu Yeze and Bai Weijin had just made it up and thus didn’t want to be a third wheel. Gu Yeyu gave Bai Weijin a wink and trotted out.
“What is she hinting at?”
As soon as Gu Yeyu went out, Gu Yeze got up and came up to Bai Weijin. Sharp-eyed, he certainly detected a different meaning behind the wink.
“What else do you think she can mean?” Bai Weijin appeared extraordinarily calm.
Heaven couldn’t help her if Gu Yeze knew she had already drawn up a divorce settlement.
Gu Yeze pulled her legs apart, he himself standing in the middle, “Well, I guess she might be hinting at this?”
Bai Weijin was aware of what he wanted to do, but her back was still aching from last night’s sex. Despite having an air of quiet authority in office, she often felt herself boxed into a corner by Gu Yeze.
Bai Weijin flatly refused, “Gu Yeze, we’re in the office now.”
“Of course we’re, but no one will come in without my consent.”
Gu Yeze held Bai Weijin in his arms and walked towards the lounge, without giving her a chance to reply.
Bai Weijin didn’t bother to struggle.
“How about lifting the restrictions?
Gu Yeze undressed Bai Weijin while making the suggestion. Bai Weijin rolled her eyes, “The restrictions? Have you really been subject to them?”
‘Seem not,’ thought Gu Yeze.
“Then they’re removed now.”
Bai Weijin’s clothes were also removed.
Her heart pounded. Despite her parents’ failed marriage which had discouraged her for some time, Bai Weijin decided to chance her arm now.
She kissed him in an active and enthusiastic way, which made Gu Yeze even more excited.
An intercourse began.
Bai Yinya was on a date.
Despite a gentle smile on his face, Zhao Lei couldn’t help doubting.
As his regular date accepted many gifts from him, Zhao Lei found Bai Yinya feigned ignorance whenever he proposed a step forward for their relationship.
“Can you imagine what my life was like when I lived with my sister before? Now she’s even gone to extremes after marrying Gu Yeze.”
Her cutesy manner worked best for Zhao Lei. He coaxed her in a milder voice, “Don’t worry. I’ll back you up at all costs once you become my girlfriend.”
Nearly getting what she wanted, Bai Yinya bowed her head and made a show of shyness, “I’m afraid now is hardly the time.”
Zhao Lei tried to appear calm, but deep down he was annoyed with Bai Yinya for accepting all his kindness while refusing to be his girlfriend.
‘Humph, there’s no excuse for such a behavior. I can wait till the die is cast.’
Both had their own calculations.
Bai Yinya was contemplating how to make Zhao Lei willingly help ruin Bai Weijin, for she couldn’t stand the sight of her living a better-off life.
“Yinya, how about visiting my friend’s bar after dinner? It’s newly opened and thus needs some support.”
Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, Zhao Lei had good connections in high society. Bai Yinya felt greatly honored by his invitation and readily agreed to it.
“Nice suggestion.”
Her readiness pleased Zhao Lei. He seized the chance to make a request, “Why not have a meal with my parents at weekends?”
Bai Yinya looked embarrassed. Despite the fact that Bai Hongbo had spared no efforts to establish connections with Zhao family and that Zhao Lei obviously lost his heart to her, Bai Yinya, jealous of the life of abundance her sister lived, looked forward to a much grander wedding ceremony than Bai Weijin had even had.
Within the whole city, few, however, could be more influential than Gu Yeze.
Bai Yinya refused to give up the hope of finding such a man, for Zhao Lei, in her eyes, was far from a perfect choice.
“I’d like to, but I’ll meet my friend in a shopping mall at the weekend. How about rearranging the meal?” Bai Yinya evaded the question.
Even a fool knew it was an excuse. Zhao Lei’s face fell.
Bai Yinya tried to think of another topic of conversation when two people came up in their direction. Her body trembling, she was itching to hide from both of them.
