From then until lunchtime, Xia Xingcheng seemed a little absent-minded.

Yang Youming had planned to take Xia Xingcheng back to the hotel with him after lunch. However, this mountain villa rarely had guests–Ren Yuchang was so thrilled that he had them stay for dinner. He mentioned that a friend was going to bring him a local chicken in the afternoon, and that he would personally cook for them in the evening, using local wild mushrooms to make chicken stew.

After Ren Yuchang heard that Yang Youming and Xia Xingcheng’s flight was at noon the very next day, he asked them to stay overnight and go directly to the airport the next morning, which would be closer than going from the hotel. As for their luggage, they could ask Huang Jixin and Li Yun, who were waiting at the hotel, to bring them to the airport directly.

Having heard that, Yang Youming truly couldn’t refuse.

He glanced at Xia Xingcheng, who sat with him in the middle of the room.

Naturally, Xia Xingcheng wanted to go back to the hotel. After all, they would be temporarily separated tomorrow. There were only the two of them in the hotel room, so they could do whatever they wanted. Since there were so many people here, there was no way he could share a room with Yang Youming at night. However, he also felt that Teacher Ren’s enthusiasm was not easy to turn down. Having to leave would seem like he was being capricious, so he could only say, “Then let’s go straight to the airport tomorrow.”

Ren Yuchang immediately stood up, looking very happy, and he asked the driver to take him to buy wild mushrooms.

Ren Jingyuan was also quite happy to hear that they were staying and said, “We’ll go hiking in the afternoon, and in the evening we can have some beer.”

In the afternoon, Ren Jingyuan led them along the path towards the top of the mountain.

This was not a scenic area, and it was unlikely for there to be any tourists. They didn’t run into anybody else as they made their way all the way up the path. Although there was nothing really worth seeing, with the dense vegetation of the countryside’s mountains, the mood would always be different from the city.

Ren Jingyuan walked in front. Pointing to wild fungi on the side of the road, he said to Qin Xueyue, “These can be eaten. I’ll take them back later for the chicken stew.”

Qin Xueyue didn’t quite believe him, “Are you serious?”

Yang Youming and the others walked behind them. When passing the wild fungi, Yang Youming said, “It’s a lie, don’t pick it.”

Qin Xueyue immediately turned to Ren Jingyuan, “You really know how to show off.”

Xia Xingcheng walked at the back of the group. Up until now, he was still recalling the kiss that Yang Youming had left on the window pane. That little bit of sweetness made his mind wander, and his footsteps became as light as a feather.

At this time, Ling Jiayue, who had been following Yang Youming and Chen Hailan, didn’t seem so eye-catching.

Ling Jiayue was very quiet and well-behaved. For the most part, it was Chen Hailan who talked to her. No matter what Chen Hailan asked, she would answer politely.

Yang Youming didn’t speak as much, but Xia Xingcheng could sense from Ling Jiayue’s attitude that she cared more about Yang Youming.

Xia Xingcheng’s intuition told him that Ling Jiayue was either a fan of Yang Youming, or she liked Yang You Ming.

Later on, the mountain path became narrower, and there were places where only one person could pass through.

Yang Youming slowed down and walked behind Ling Jiayue. Xia Xingcheng was the only one behind him. Treading on the slightly slippery stone path, Yang Youming put his hands behind his back, palms spread towards Xia Xingcheng.

Xia Xingcheng hurriedly caught up and placed his right hand on Yang Youming’s palm.

Yang Youming didn’t look at him, only closing his palms and holding Xia Xingcheng’s hand in both hands, his dry fingertips rubbing his soft palm.

The people in front of them were still talking as they hiked. Only the two of them fell behind, holding each other’s hands where no one could see.

“Youming!” Not knowing what for, Chen Hailan abruptly called out to Yang Youming, “Do you remember when we last went hiking?”

Startled, Xia Xingcheng subconsciously moved to pull his hand back.

Yet Yang Youming didn’t let go, his grip tightening all at once as he answered steadily, “It’s been five or six years now.”

No one looked back at them.

Chen Hailan only lamented, “Time flies.”

Xia Xingcheng’s heart beat a little faster. Yang Youming deliberately hooked his hands with gentle fingertips, making Xia Xingcheng’s heart itch.

In the backyard of Ren Yuchang’s villa, a large round table was set up in a sunroom with a glass roof. There was the chicken stew cooked by Ren Yuchang himself and many other dishes.

The room faced a mountain stream, but it was sufficiently warm inside, and Xia Xingcheng only wore a sweater. After two bowls of chicken stew, he was even slightly sweating.

Ren Jingyuan brought in a box of beer. Although it was winter, in such a warm environment, some beer in one’s stomach would still make the body feel comfortable.

In the middle of the meal, Xia Xingcheng saw Qin Xueyue and Ling Jiayue add Yang Youming’s WeChat. Suddenly, he remembered that he had deleted Yang Youming’s WeChat–not only his WeChat contact, even his phone number had been deleted completely. Gripping his beer bottle, he couldn’t help but pause and shoot a glance at Yang Youming.

Yang Youming was putting his phone back in his pocket. Seeing Xia Xingcheng watching him, Xia Xingcheng didn’t know what came to his mind, but he took his phone back out and pressed on the screen several times before placing it on the table and pushing it over to Xia Xingcheng. He said, “Xingcheng, can we add each other on WeChat?”

Xia Xingcheng guessed that he was probably blushing. Seeing the WeChat QR code on Yang Youming’s phone screen, he reached out and took the phone, fishing for his own phone to add him as a friend.

Chen Hailan propped his face on his hand and said with a small chuckle, “You guys have just shot a movie, but you haven’t even added each other on WeChat when it’s been this long?”

Yang Youming nodded, “We rarely used WeChat that time.”

No matter what he said, no one would question him closely.

But Xia Xingcheng secretly put his phone on silent and used Yang Youming’s phone to dial his number, hanging up as soon as the call connected.

Yang Youming didn’t say anything once Xia Xingcheng returned his phone. He looked at Xia Xingcheng, dropping his gaze as he took his phone. A smile flashed across his eyes, and then he calmly put the phone back into his pocket.

Xia Xingcheng touched the smooth screen of the phone and couldn’t help but also lower his head and smile. When he looked up again, he suddenly noticed that Ling Jiayue was watching him.

By the time he looked over, Ling Jiayue immediately turned her eyes away.
