Chapter 86- ABO Interstellar (16)
“Hey, Anra–” Hong Qinyi, who had finished cutting up the fish, walked over only to witness a terrible sight. In front of Gu Anran was a level one Zerg.
Although level one Zergs were the weakest among the Zergs, it still posed quite a danger to an omega. Even an alpha does not dare to fight one carelessly. The Zergs had quite strong vitality so that unless their heads were cut off or their hearts pierced, a Zerg would not die.
And if you let a Zerg escape, then you had better run because an injured Zerg will always return with reinforcements to retaliate. Humans instinctively seek revenge, and of course, Zergs do too. Furthermore, the one thing most feared about the Zergs were their fangs and saliva.
Their saliva has corrosive properties and can easily crude rocks, steel, and more. Mechas were created to combat the Zergs’ saliva as the metal used specially withstands the corrosiveness of their saliva. Of course, if too much saliva gets on the mecha, it will still corrode, but Zergs don’t have a habit of spraying saliva as an attack move so the chance of the mecha being corroded was rather small.
And what was even more terrifying were their fangs. The sharpness of their shimmering fangs is unparalleled. It is said that they can even directly bite through the weaker parts of a mecha, let alone a human made of flesh and blood.
Gu Anran swallowed nervously and suppressed her body’s urge to tremble. She slowly backed away from the Zerg. She knew that she must absolutely not show her back to the Zerg, as showing her back was the same as giving the Zerg an opening to attack. She knows that this Zerg has been observing her so she could only pretend to be calm and unhurried as she slowly retreated backward.
Shua! Suddenly a knife shot out from the left side and pierced directly into the middle of the Zerg’s stomach.
“Jijiji–” A harsh scream echoed in the air. Gu Anran, who was the closest, was forced to bear the brunt of the horrifying sound. Her head grew dizzy from the sound but fortunately, the Zerg’s attention was on the knife and not her, otherwise, Gu Anran’s pale face would’ve been the signal the Zerg needed to rush in and attack.
“Stay away from her!” Lin Cai snapped off a branch and shot it at the Zerg, but although she was able to hit it the first time, the second time was not so easy. The Zerg easily dodged the branch and rushed forward.
Buzzz–
The Zerg locked its target on Lin Cai, clicking its fangs together as it flew towards Lin Cai, but Lin Cai was ready for it as she held a long sword in front of her.
The military academy gave each person two knives, a dagger, and a one-meter long sword. Lin Cai’s dagger was currently stuck in the Zerg’s abdomen, and the green juice dripping onto the ground made anyone looking at it feel nauseous.
“Anran, Anran, are you all right?” Hong Qingyi rushed over to help Gu Anran, and anxiously checked her for wounds.
“I’m fine, I’m fine, go help Lin Cai.” Gu Anran forcibly suppressed her trembling to stand up and looked over at Lin Cai fighting the Zerg with a bit of anxiety.
The three of them were not suited for combat with the Zergs. Although Gu Anran and Hong Qingyi have better physical fitness than the average omega (because of the number of points allocated by the system), they were considerably weaker than the average alpha. And although Lin Cai is an alpha, as a medical student, she only received some basic combat training and had learned a few fighting skills, but these fighting skills were useless against a Zerg.
Lin Cai could only rely on her body’s flexibility to dodge the Zerg’s movements. Her long sword had long been eroded by the Zerg’s saliva and she was starting to have a hard time following its speed. The Zerg’s agility is simply amazing, its wings allowing it to move at high speeds and rush quickly towards the enemy.
What to do, what to do? Ah, that’s it!
“Qingyi, Qingyi, use….that method you talked about last time!” Gu Anran shook Hong Qingyi’s arm and shouted.
“Haha…hah?” Hong Qingyi was shaken dizzy by all the shaking.
“Use the mechas!” Gu Anran pointed at the Zerg.
“Lin Cai, move back!” At the moment Lin Cai jumped backward, a mecha dropped down from the sky.
Perhaps it was due to some instinct, but the moment the mecha appeared, the Zerg immediately flapped its wings and dodged to the side.
“Ji! Jiji–!” It made an even shrill-sounding scream than before and although it was able to dodge most of the mecha, the Zerg still received a large slash on its abdomen. Some of its skin was hanging loosely on its body and green liquid fell out of it. If it were a human, they would’ve long fallen to the ground in pain while this Zerg was still alive and kicking while glaring at them angrily.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
One mecha after another fell as Hong Qingyi and Gu Anran manifested the mechas in their storage bracelets one after another. One focused on dropping the mechas while the other focused on retrieving the ones that had fallen so they would have an endless supply of mechas to use. Like this, the Zerg had no choice but to frantically fly around to dodge all the mechas.
Lin Cai, who was standing to the side, was simply dumbfounded. Who would have thought that mechas could be used in this way? Only Gu Anran and Hong Qingyi, these two strange geniuses, could think of something like this! She quickly recovered her senses and tightened her grip on her sword as she rushed forwards to stab the Zerg a few times under the cover of the raining mechas.
By now, the Zerg’s body was covered in its green blood and filled with holes. One of its wings seemed to have been injured as well as it flew crookedly into the air and wailed miserably.
“Hurry, Anran, hurry! It wants to run away!” Hong Qingyi shouted anxiously.
As she spoke, the Zerg began flapping its wings even more furiously and although every move it made was torture to its body, the Zerg was clearly aiming to move upwards towards the sky. If the Zerg was allowed to gain a certain altitude, then Gu Anran and the others would be unable to hurt it due to their lack of long-range weapons.
Gu Anran also realized this and sped up on dropping the mechas. However, they were still unable to stop the Zerg from flying upwards and could only watch as it made it to the top of the trees.
Shua!
The bright light of a laser sword flashed quickly and the Zerg was suddenly split in half and fell down to the ground. Gu Anran looked up to see a pair of dark red and sky blue mechas approaching them and could finally fall softly to the ground in relief.
“Anran!” The cockpit’s hatch immediately opened and Mu Qingli jumped out. She rushed towards Gu Anran and hugged the omega into her arms.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry…..” She kept repeating the two words over and over again, her tone laced heavily with self-reproach. She couldn’t imagine what she would do if something had actually happened to Anran. Thinking like this, she gritted her teeth and looked in the direction where the Zerg fell, wishing to rush over and smash it into pieces.
“It’s okay, I’m fine…everything is okay….” Gu Anran struggled to raise her sore arms to pat Mu Qingli’s arm in a soothing manner.
At the moment, Gu Anran and Hong Qingyi were both in a pretty bad state due to their overexertion of mental power. When they manifested the mechas from their storage space, used telekinesis to move it and control the location of the drop, all of it required use of mental power. Furthermore, the farther and higher they had to move the mecha, the more power was consumed. By now, both of their faces were haggard and pale and sweat accumulated on their foreheads.
“Where were you two?” Hong Qingyi leaned against Chi Mengyan’s arms while sipping water from teh canteen offered to her.
“We weren’t too far from here when we met more than a dozen level 1 Zergs and two level 2 Zergs.
“So many?” Gu Anran exclaimed.
:Don’t worry, with our combat power it was no problem annihilating them but it seems one of the Zergs….slipped through the net….” Mu Qingli smiled bitterly.
It turned out that Mu Qingli and Chi Mengyan had gone out earlier to draw a 50-meter perimeter around their site.
They had planned on getting rid of any threatening beasts first, after all, this campsite would become their base for at least a few weeks. So they cleaned out the surrounding environment and any excess beasts would later be used as dried meat. They had brought a lot of salt and spice with them so it wasn’t a bad ide to make jerky out of the beasts.
So following these plans, the two of them hunted any beast they could find and the pile of bodies were as tall as mountains. In order to stop the people from the school who were in charge of recycling the carcasses from taking the bodies, they came back every few minutes and sometimes were pleasantly surprised to find a few carnivorous animals trying to poach their dead prey.
Originally everything went well without any danger, but then the two ran into a group of Zergs. There were nearly 20 Zergs, but it wasn’t difficult for the two of them who were already proficient in using the second-level mechas to finish the Zergs off. However, it still took them some time to finish off the entire group.
While the two of them were focused on slaying the Zergs, their mechas suddenly issued a warning. They had fixed an alarm at their campsite that would issue a warning if something were to happen at the campsite.
When they saw the warning, the two of them immediately turned around and rushed back to the campsite without another word.
“Alright, alright, stop blaming yourselves. It’s normal to encounter unexpected situations like these if we’re supposed to spend an entire month out here.” Gu Anran cupped Mu Qingli’s cheeks and spoke softly to comfort her.
“En…..” Mu Qingli nodded and nuzzled her face into Gu Anran’s golden hair, the faith fragrance of the omega calming down her rapidly beating heart.
「Ding! The female lead’s rating has increased by (10) and is now at (85).」
“Anran, Qingli, drink this.” Lin Cai held two bottles of green liquid out towards them.
“This is…” After seeing the green blood of the Zerg, both of them felt nauseous at the sight of green…
“This is a medicinal potion, mixed with herbs that can help restore your physical strength. Trust me, you’ll feel better after you drink it.” Lin Cai explained.
“Thank you.” Gu Anran hesitated, and took a small sip. She couldn’t refuse it as it was supposed to be a good thing. The liquid tasted much better than expected, and tasted sweet like grass and as cool as mint. Although the liquid tasted cool to the tongue, it felt different when going down her throat and it warmed her stomach for some reason. Her head felt a little drowsy after ingesting it and she felt an urge to sleep.
“Lin Cai, what is this?” Mu Qingli asked doubtfully while supporting Gu Anran, who was a little swaying in her arms.
“This is normal. They’ve overexerted themselves and consumed too much mental energy. Their physical energy is at similarly low levels, so they need a good rest. Put them down in their tents and let them rest first.” Lin Cai said and lifted the flap to the nearest tent.
Mu Qingli and Chi Mengyan nodded and picked up the sleepy Gu Anran and Hong Qingyi, placing them gently inside the tent.
“Lin Cai, come help me bring back the prey we had hunted.” Mu Qingli said. She asked Lin Cai to come with her not because she didn’t trust Lin Cai but because if there are more Zergs, Lin Cai alone will not be able to handle it. It was better if Chi Mengyan, who had a mecha, stayed. Lin Cai of course understood her inventions and nodded silently.
The three of them worked together quietly, afraid of waking up the two omegas sleeping inside the tent.
