Chapter 2 part 1

Shen Xiao took the lead and entered the house while everyone else followed behind him. And right at the back, was Shen Yu. When she felt that it was safe enough, she took a few glances at his back silhouette. Despite being slender, he had a broad shoulder.

Before her first meeting with Shen Xiao this afternoon, she harboured a belief that the description in the novel of him being arrogant and conceited, is merely an exaggeration by the author. She wasn’t afraid of him and even felt that she could even have a civil discussion with him, about her moving out from the Shen house. However, after the previous incident, she understood Shen Xiao slightly better. This is definitely not a person she would want to mess with!

The novel merely described the relationship between both of them in a few brief words, that Shen Xiao was indulgent of her as he was willing to provide her with sufficient allowance and wasn’t particularly strict on her. However, the book left out details on how they got along with one another on a daily basis. Further, there are very few descriptions of how Shen Xiao behaved at home.

Shen Yu thought to herself, ‘I’ll wait for his mood to get better before I bring up the issue on moving out. But with someone as volatile as him, how could I tell if he is in a good mood or not?’

Despite the concerns that kept mushrooming in her head, Shen Yu managed to keep a docile and obedient appearance.

After Shen Xiao entered his house, he quickly took off his coat. He removed the pair of cufflinks from his shirt and indifferently threw them on the coffee table. He took a seat on the sofa and loosen himself. As his long, lanky legs felt slightly sore, he placed them on top of the coffee table and instinctively shook his feet. Then, after getting sufficiently comfortable, he turned his heads towards her and said, “You been acting like a terrified bun the whole day. Come over here to greet brother.”

Shen Yu, “…..”

When Uncle Li who was standing next to her saw that she was in a dazed, he gently motioned her to go over to the sofa and greet Shen Xiao. Shen Yu took the hint and took a few steps forward to Shen Xiao. She obediently called out, “Brother.”

Shen Xiao replied, “Humph!”

He patted on the seat next to him and said, “Come over here and take a seat. Have anything upset you recently? Quickly tell brother, it never fails to cheer me up.”

Shen Yu, “….”

Are these words coming out of a human???

Despite the urge to remove her shoes and slap him with it, she took a few deep breaths to suppress her anger and keep her temper under control. With her head hung low, she took a seat next to Shen Xiao.

The distance between them is close. When Shen Yu breathed in, she could smell the cologne that was lightly applied on his body, it was cool and refreshing.

Shen Yi was still shaking his feet when he turned his head to look at her. He fixed his penetrating gaze at her and after what seems like a lifetime, he closed his eyes in disgust and said, “That pair of glasses of yours seems to weigh at least two catties. It’s causing the bridge of your nose to collapse. Moreover, that hairstyle and your chubby face… why don’t you get some plastic surgery? Don’t worry, brother will pay for the surgery on your behalf.”

Shen Yu, “….”

She finally understood why the original Shen Yu is inflicted with a severe inferiority complex. It’s actually caused by this man who would criticise her daily.

Shen Yu already feels very insecure with her current physical figure,. The original Shen Yu is diagnosed with severe myopia and as such, is prescribed with lenses that are so thick, it will scare any passers-by. Moreover, she didn’t want to undergo laser treatment to fix her eyesight. Thus, the original Shen Yu wore a pair of old-fashioned black-rimmed spectacles that covered most of her face. It might be because she feels that her face is chubby that she decided on such big glasses.

Apart from having severe myopia, the original Shen Yu is also overweight. Yesterday, Shen Yu went to the pharmacy next to the school to measure her weight and height. Although she was only 170 cm in height, she weighs more than 150kg!!!

She feels that the author was being unreasonable and cruel when writing about the original Shen Yu’s appearance. With her physical appearance, how did she even get admitted into the Film Academy? Was the Admission Committee who interviewed her, also inflicted with severe myopia?

As a professional dancer trained in the classical style of dancing, Shen Yu has a high expectation of her physical attributes. She pays careful attention to the ratio between fat and muscles of her body, and ensure that her joints are always flexible. Even after graduating many years later, she continued practising daily to ensure that her body is in top condition.

When she first saw the condition of her body after she transmigrated, Shen Yu nearly fainted. It was only after she calmed down, that she comforted herself that despite being overweight it was not like it was the end of the world. Every overweight person has the potential to be beautiful. So long as she exercises diligently, she will definitely lose weight.

However, when she was criticised by Shen Xiao, she couldn’t help but slum into depression again.

She replied softly, “I don’t want plastic surgery.”

Shen Xiao sneered but remained silent.

Uncle Li is worried that if the pair of siblings continued talking, Shen Yu would end up crying. He wasn’t overreacting when he had such thought as Shen Yu had actually broken down in tears several times before.

He decided to put a stop to their conversation. Before they could speak another word, he said, “Master, Lady. Dinner is ready. Would you like to eat now?”
